Hamas celebrates the international boycott of Netanyahu’s speech at the UN

Jerusalem.- The Islamist group Hamas celebrated this Friday that dozens of delegates left the hall of the General Assembly of the UN in New York before the speech of the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, a gesture that reflects the “deep international isolation” of the Israeli leader.

“The boycott of his speech by the majority of international delegations reflects the growing isolation that has surrounded Netanyahu and his illegal entity,” Hamas stated in a statement.

The group added that the action also demonstrates the “growing global solidarity with the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the creation of their independent state.” At the same time, he emphasized that “the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with Jerusalem as its capital, is an inalienable right that will not be undermined by the crimes of the occupier nor by its fascist policies.”

“Our people are committed to their land and will remain on the path of liberation and return until the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital,” Hamas concluded. In his speech, Netanyahu insisted that Israel will not recognize a Palestinian state. “It’s madness and we won’t do it,” he stated, emphasizing that he will not commit “national suicide” by recognizing it.
