This is the first attack against the Syrian capital since the beginning of strong clashes between Syrian government forces and factions of the Druze minority in the south of the country.

In a video of the moment of the attack, columns of gray smoke are seen covering the headquarters of the General Staff and the Umayyad Square, after a multiple bombing against several parts of the building that blows parts into the air. Since Monday, the Jewish State had already carried out several bombings against Damascus troops in the southern province of Al-Suweida, measures it justifies as an attempt to prevent the militarization of areas near its border and to defend the Druze community.
