Jerusalem.- The Israeli army announced this Friday that “in the coming days” it will begin a wave of attacks against multi-story buildings in the city of
Gaza (north of the Strip) that have “become terrorist infrastructure”.
“In the coming days, the Army will attack structures converted into terrorist infrastructure in Gaza City: cameras, observation command centers, sniper and anti-tank positions, and command and control compounds,” the statement reads.
The announcement comes after the army said yesterday that it already controls 40% of the Gazan capital, which it intends to occupy completely, expelling the million people concentrated in the city towards the south.
In its statement, the Army assures that “they have carried out extensive intelligence gathering operations and identified significant Hamas terrorist activity in various infrastructures in Gaza City, particularly in high-rise buildings.”
“In addition, Hamas’s underground terrorist infrastructure is located next to these buildings, designed to facilitate ambushes against Israeli troops and provide escape routes from the command centers established in them,” the statement adds.
Also, it ensures that in this new bombing campaign against buildings they will “take numerous measures to minimize the risk of harming the civilian population”.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned today that “the gates of hell” in Gaza are opening and vowed to intensify attacks against the Gazan capital.
“When the door opens, it will not close, and the Army’s activity will increase until Hamas’s assassins accept Israel’s conditions for the end of the war, beginning with the release of all hostages and disarmament,” he threatened.
During the last week, the attacks in Gaza City have intensified.
Since the early hours of the morning, nearly twenty Palestinians, including seven children, have died in Israeli bombings against homes and tents, reported the Wafa news agency, citing medical sources.
