Mexico City.- Mexican authorities arrested this Saturday in the state of Quintana Roo, in the Mexican Caribbean, Emilio Alejandro ‘N’, alias ‘Danone’ who is considered the head of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in the region.
In a statement, the Secretariat of Citizen Security of the state reported the arrest of the subject, who would be involved in crimes against health and carrying firearms and explosives.

According to the information, the alleged criminal operated in the municipalities of Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, Lázaro Cárdenas, Cozumel, Benito Juárez and Isla Mujeres, where he "intellectually led actions to expand the territory controlled by the CJNG under the name of 'Deltas: Operativa Jaguar' from which in recent weeks a significant seizure of weapons and tactical equipment with the same logos and letters was achieved". The arrest occurred after intelligence work and field investigation, and while elements of the Research Group of the Secretariat of Citizen Security, in coordination with the Secretariat of the Navy and the Secretariat of National Defense (Defense) were carrying out surveillance patrols. In the operation, they noticed two men who were at the height of the trunk of a parked vehicle with the trunk open. "Both were exchanging several transparent plastic bags that contained green-colored plant matter with characteristics similar to the drug commonly known as marijuana," the agency pointed out. Upon noticing the presence of security forces, one of the individuals ran away and fled, while the other subject was searched and a backpack was seized from him, along with 64 transparent plastic bags with green vegetable matter with characteristics similar to marijuana. In addition, they were assured 23 transparent plastic bags with crystalline solid fragments similar to crystal and another 19 bags with white powder with characteristics similar to cocaine. A short firearm of the 'Glock' type was also seized, black in color, 9 millimeters caliber, a black magazine, 12 golden 9-millimeter cartridges, the gray Kia vehicle, Soul model, 300,000 pesos ($16,506) in bills of different denominations and four cell phones. The CJNG is on the U.S. Government's terrorist list, being considered, for years, as one of the most powerful in the world, along with the Sinaloa Cartel.
