U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has suggested that circumcision — a surgical procedure to remove the foreskin from a boy's penis — is linked to autism.
"There are two studies that show that circumcised children at an early age are twice as likely to suffer from autism. It is very likely that this is because they are given Tylenol [paracetamol]", declared during a cabinet meeting held this Thursday, without providing further details about it.
However, several experts have refuted Kennedy's hypothesis. "There is no study that establishes causality. While some observational studies suggest a possible association, there are no studies that demonstrate causality, and the conclusion of any credible medical source is that there is no causal relationship between Tylenol, circumcisions, or vaccines and autism," stated Dr. Steven Abelowitz, founder and medical director of Ocean Pediatrics.
