Adamuz, Spain.– Rescue teams located this Wednesday the 43rd victim of the tragic train accident that occurred in Adamuz, after finding the body in one of the train cars of the crashed Alvia train. Firefighters do not rule out that more fatalities may appear in the coming hours, as the dismantling of the convoy progresses, which was dragged by an embankment of about four meters.
As rescue operations continue, the authorities are keeping the investigation open to clarify the causes and circumstances of the accident, which has shocked the country. In that context, the Civil Guard reported the discovery of a wheelset part (bogie) from one of the trains in a stream near the accident area, located using 3D forensic infographics with drones, which could provide key data to the investigative process.

In parallel, it transpired that train drivers had warned Renfe and Adif hours earlier about the risks to railway safety arising from the storm, including falling trees on the tracks. According to union sources, these alerts did not receive an immediate response. After two derailments, the Semaf union requested the suspension of the Rodalies service, denouncing a lack of guarantees for passengers and workers. From the institutional sphere, the Second Vice President of the Government and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, expressed her sorrow at the death of a trainee machinist and sent a message of condolences to his family, also wishing a speedy recovery to the injured. Authorities reiterated that the rescue and investigation efforts will continue during the next few hours, while responsibilities are assessed and railway safety protocols are reviewed.
