Madrid.- The fire in the Andalusian town of Los Gallardos (Almería province, southeast), the most serious of those remaining active in Spain, could be brought under control this Monday if meteorological conditions do not worsen, after its surface area did not grow last night and fire activity was low.
This deadly fire, which claimed the lives of thirteen people last week, has devastated 7,000 hectares in the Almeria Levante, an area visited today by the head of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the regional president of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, who highlighted the collaboration between administrations in the extinction efforts.
Sánchez once again proposed the signing of a great national pact against the climate emergency and promised funds for those affected by the fire.
“The climate emergency kills and we have to rise to the occasion,” he said
Moreno assured that, if there is “no change” in the weather situation, the Los Gallardos fire could be brought under control throughout the day. It is already, he stated, in a “zero operational situation”.

His Government already reported early in the morning that the favorable conditions of the early hours, with winds of less than 10 km/h and a progressive increase in relative humidity to 82%, had allowed work to continue on the consolidation and liquidation of hot spots.
Six of the deceased have been identified. They are a Spanish citizen and five foreigners: a man and a woman from the United Kingdom, a Frenchman, a Belgian, and an American.
Evacuated and warned populations
In Catalonia (northeast), Civil Protection sent a message to mobile phones this morning ordering the preventive evacuation of four residential areas due to the fire declared in Aiguamúrcia, which firefighters hope to stabilize today.

95% of the fire’s perimeter is now stabilized following the containment maneuvers carried out overnight, and only a portion of the left third remains, where widening burns have allowed it to be anchored to the road.
Another forest fire with a potential risk index of one is threatening the Bierzo region (León, northwest), where another fire remains at the same danger level in Caboalles de Arriba.
In addition, the fires in Canseco, in the Leonese region of La Robla, and in Vanidodes, in the region of La Cepeda, remain active in León. Those in Ribota de Sajambre, in Riaño, and Navatejera, in Villaquilambre, also in León, remain stabilized.
The evolution of the next few hours is fundamental for the fire declared in Peñarroya de Tastavins (Teruel, east), still uncontained and where about 300 people are working, especially so that it does not spread along the right flank and jump a stream, given that it would affect a significant forest mass.
Although they are not confined, residents in the area have been instructed to go out only when necessary and to keep doors and windows closed. The fire has affected about 350 hectares so far.
The fire that began on Saturday in the Galician municipality of Ribas de Sil (northwest) remains active this Monday after having razed 140 hectares. But the situation has improved notably overnight and railway traffic, as well as passage through a provincial road that was cut off for hours, have been fully restored.
