Israel.- Tel Aviv experienced this Saturday one of the largest demonstrations since the beginning of the war in Gaza, with more than 100,000 people in the streets to demand a ceasefire with Hamas and the release of the hostages from the Israeli Government. The protest took place after the approval, in the early hours of Friday, of a plan by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to expand the offensive and conquer Gaza City.
The march, called by the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, filled the well-known Hostages Square. Many attendees carried Israeli and yellow flags, a symbol of the campaign for the captives.
"This could be a death sentence for the people we love most," warned Lishay Miran Lavi, wife of Omri Miran, one of the hostages still held by the Islamist group.
Among the participants was also Nira Sharabi, widow of Yossi Sharabi, who died in an Israeli air strike against Gaza.
"My husband lost his life due to the intensity of the conflict," she lamented.
According to official estimates, 50 Israeli hostages remain in the Gaza Strip, of whom 30 are believed to have died and 20 are still alive.
