Washington.- The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said this Friday that Hamas has until next Sunday at 6:00 p.m. Washington time (22:00 GMT) to accept the peace plan that the Republican proposed for the Gaza Strip or "hell will be unleashed like never before seen" against the Palestinian Islamist group.
Trump presented last Monday a 20-point plan that would have been accepted by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which proposes the immediate end of the war, the release of the Hamas hostages, and the formation of a transition government for Gaza that would be supervised by the US president and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
"An agreement must be reached with Hamas before six (6) p.m., Washington, D.C. time. All countries have signed! If this LAST CHANCE agreement is not reached, hell will be unleashed, like no one has ever seen before, against Hamas," Trump wrote on the Truth Social network.
Hamas militants "are surrounded and trapped militarily"
The president assured that the majority of Hamas militants "are surrounded and militarily trapped", waiting for him to give the order to execute them.
He also asked the residents of the areas where those Hamas members are located to "immediately leave this potential death zone towards safer areas in Gaza."
He added, however, that Hamas has "a last chance" to accept Washington's plan, which he said has already been accepted by "the large, powerful, and rich nations of the Middle East."
"Will bring peace to the region after 3,000 years"
The agreement, which he said will bring peace to the region after 3,000 years, also "PARDONS THE LIVES OF ALL REMAINING HAMAS COMBATANTS".
He therefore demanded that they accept the plan and that they "RELEASE ALL THE HOSTAGES, INCLUDING THE BODIES OF THE DEAD, NOW."
Trump, waiting for Hamas's response
Mohammed Nazzal, a member of Hamas' political office, stated in an interview with Al Jazeera that the group will respond "soon" to the proposal of the American president.
Trump had stated on Tuesday that the group had "three or four days" to give a response.
The plan also contemplates the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip and the possibility of negotiating a Palestinian state in the future, something ruled out, however, by Netanyahu.
UN: Trump's Plan Creates an "Opportunity" to Help Palestinians
The UN's Emergency Relief Coordinator, Tom Fletcher, stated this Friday that the peace plan for Gaza proposed by US President Donald Trump "opens a new window of opportunity" both for Palestinians to receive "vital aid" and to "bring the hostages back."
"The initiative opens a window of opportunity. It offers both Palestinians the opportunity to receive vital aid on the scale that is urgently needed and to bring the hostages home," said Fletcher, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in a statement.
Fletcher added that the agency is "ready and willing to act" and that it has "some 170,000 metric tons of food, medicine, shelter and other necessary supplies ready to enter Gaza from across the region."
«Our plan is not a theory; we know it works. During the last ceasefire, we moved with speed and scale throughout the Strip. Today we mobilize again. The UN and our partners have the necessary staff, trust and experience. Our plan provides aid to civilians through the safest and most direct routes, in a neutral and principled manner,» he pointed out.
