Washington.- The Donald Trump Administration warned of the "erasure of civilization" of Europe due to its migration policies and the alleged censorship of the European Union (EU), in a report on the United States National Security strategy that proposes to help "correct" the course of the continent.
The 33-page document, described by Trump as a "roadmap to ensure American supremacy, harshly criticizes its European allies and asserts that if these "current trends continue, the continent will be unrecognizable in 20 years or less."
For Washington, the economic problems in Europe are overshadowed "by the real and cruder prospect of a wiping out of civilization", according to the foreign policy strategy, which repeats previous criticisms of Trump and echoes speeches by European far-right movements.
Among the main problems pointed out by the U.S. are "activities of the European Union and other organizations that undermine political freedom and sovereignty; migration policies that are transforming the continent and creating conflicts; censorship of freedom of expression and suppression of political opposition; the collapse of birth rates; and the loss of national identities and self-confidence".
The Trump administration questions the ability of European countries to continue as "reliable allies" if they do not have "sufficiently strong" economies and armies.

"We want Europe to remain European, to regain its self-confidence as a civilization and to abandon its failed approach to regulatory asphyxiation," adds the document, which asserts that the United States' goal "should be to help Europe correct its current trajectory." The document also warns about the possibility that in "a few decades at most", some members of NATO "will come to have a non-European majority", which questions whether they will be governed by the principles of the bloc.
