Washington.- The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Saturday that he will call his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, next Monday, and then the Ukrainian, Volodymyr Zelensky, to negotiate the end of the war in Ukraine.
"Let's hope it's a productive day, that a ceasefire is declared, and that this very violent war, a war that should never have happened, ends," he stated on the Truth Social platform.

Trump detailed that the call with Putin will be on Monday at 10:00 Washington time (14.00 GMT) and that the topics of the conversation will be "stopping the bloodbath" in Ukraine and addressing trade issues.
Later, the president will speak with Zelensky and "along with him, with several NATO leaders", but he did not reveal who or the time of that conversation.
Ukrainian and Russian delegations met last Friday in Istanbul to hold their first direct talks in three years, but there were no substantial advances to end the conflict.
The United States, which is mediating to end the war, believes that the only way to unblock the situation is through a meeting between Trump and Putin.
