Caracas.- The Government of Venezuela called this Thursday "fake" the information published by the British newspaper 'The Guardian' which claims that the acting president Delcy Rodríguez guaranteed to the Donald Trump Administration its cooperation before the capture of President Nicolás Maduro by US troops.
In the official X profile of Miraflores - the seat of the Venezuelan Government - an image was shared with the headline of the British newspaper with a red sign that says "fake", without adding any further comments about it.You may be interested in: Delcy Rodríguez names three more new ministers in Venezuela
'The Guardian' indicated that it obtained this information from four different sources who specified that the acting president and her brother, the president of Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, did not actively participate in the operation to capture Maduro by US troops on January 3, but that, it said, they had assured the US Government through intermediaries that they would cooperate with them for the next day. Delcy, who served as vice president under Maduro's leadership, was sworn in as acting president two days after the president's capture, following an order from the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ). Sources from the 'Guardian' assure that there were representatives from the Qatari Government involved in the negotiations of the Rodríguez with the United States. According to the newspaper's version, those contacts had been taking place since the autumn, and intensified after a telephone communication in November between Trump and Maduro that was unsuccessful in achieving his voluntary abandonment of power.
