Editorial Staff.- The Ministry of Popular Power for Health of Venezuela reported this Monday the death of three patients in the state of Anzoátegui with a confirmed diagnosis of hantavirus, while clarifying that two other deaths of medical professionals recorded in Barinas remain under investigation and are unrelated to the virus.
Through an official statement, health authorities explained that hantavirus is a disease transmitted by rodents in rural and agricultural areas, mainly through the inhalation of particles from urine, feces, or saliva in enclosed spaces. Likewise, they specified that there is no scientific evidence of person-to-person transmission in the country.

Regarding the two doctors who died in Barinas, the Ministry indicated that the causes of their deaths are still to be confirmed and assured that these are isolated events that do not pose a risk to the general community.
The institution emphasized that both events are independent and ruled out any connection between the situations recorded in Anzoátegui and Barinas.

Finally, the Ministry of People’s Power for Health indicated that the National Public Health System remains deployed and operational to guarantee the health security of the population, and stated that the definitive results of the investigations will be reported in a timely manner through official channels.
