The announcement was made by engineer Alexis Peguero, president of the Dominican Federation of Athletics Associations, who highlighted that the event will bring together the main exponents of each modality in search of securing their place at the maximum national event. “We will have our best athletes competing in each discipline, all focused on achieving their classification for the National Tournament,” said Peguero. The competitions in Bayaguana will begin this Saturday at 8:00 in the morning, with 3,000-meter steeplechase, high jump, and pole vault events, among other specialties. In the afternoon, starting at 3:00 p.m., the action will move to the track in La Romana, where the shot put, javelin and discus throw events will be held, as well as 800, 1,000, 1,500, 5,000 and 10,000 meter races, in addition to the race walk. In that same venue, a morning session will also be held with the participation of the Federation’s technicians. The championship is supported by the Ministry of Sports, the Dominican Olympic Committee, Grupo Creso, Adidas, World Athletics, and INEFI. During the two days, athletes from the different provincial associations will test their preparation and performance, in a decisive event for the Dominican athletics competitive calendar.More than 284 athletes compete for their classification to the National Athletics Tournament
SANTO DOMINGO, RD. – A total of 284 athletes from all over the country will enter into action this Friday and Saturday in the National Championship of Jumps, Throws, Middle-Distance, Long-Distance and Race Walking, a qualifying event for the National Athletics Tournament, which will be held on the tracks of the Bayaguana Sports Complex and in La Romana.
