Sports desk (EFE).- The four-time world champion Dutchman Max Verstappen (Red Bull) set the fastest time this Friday in the first free practice session for the Belgian Grand Prix, the tenth of the Formula One World Championship, which is being held at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

In the best of his 24 laps, Verstappen covered the 7,004 meters of the legendary Ardennes track in one minute, 47 seconds and seventy thousandths, 145 less than seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) and with a 207 advantage over his teammate, the Monegasque Charles Leclerc, who—like the others, on the soft tire—set the third fastest time of the session.
Sainz and Alonso
Spaniard Carlos Sainz (Williams) set the twentieth fastest time in the practice session, finishing three seconds and 792 thousandths behind ‘Mad Max’, his first teammate in F1, in 2015 at Toro Rosso, in the best of his 24 laps. The Madrid-born driver is under investigation for a maneuver in which, as he began entering the ‘pit lane’, he decided to return to the track.
The other Spaniard, double world champion Fernando Alonso, did not drive in this session, in which American Jak Crawford drove his Aston Martin.
