"We are very happy with our planning work. Everything is going at the pace we expect, even with a significant margin," said President Abinader, who was accompanied by the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, and other officials whose institutions are related to the organization of the event. The Head of State highlighted that the main objective is for the Games to be developed with transparency, efficiency and a sense of nationhood, and called on the population to feel part of this historic sporting event. "Now what's left for all Dominicans is to participate, start feeling, plan and enjoy these Games," he stated. Abinader reiterated that the government's goal is for Santo Domingo 2026 to set a precedent in the region. "We hope that these Games will be the best that have been held and that they will be a source of pride for our entire nation," he affirmed. At the end of the meeting, Minister Kelvin Cruz supported the words of the president and expressed his pride in being part of the organizing team. "We are ahead of schedule in many organizational areas. We are all committed and there is no room for unnecessary noise; I am sure that they will be the best Games we will have to put on," he indicated. Prior to the president's statements, José Monegro, president of the Games Organizing Committee, offered technical and logistical details on the progress of the event, noting that all areas are working according to the established schedule and that, in some cases, the program has been exceeded. "In each of the areas we are following the previously established schedule. In fact, in some we are ahead of schedule," he explained. Monegro reported that the Games will set historical participation records, with 6,220 athletes, more than a thousand already classified and 27 countries with confirmed representation. Furthermore, he emphasized that the organization is governed by three fundamental pillars: "austerity, modernity, and integration.""Austerity is investing what needs to be invested, when it needs to be invested, and in what needs to be invested," he pointed out. The XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 will be held from July 24 to August 8, with competitions in Santo Domingo and several provinces of the country, as part of an event that seeks to unite the entire nation through sport.
