Abreu (1-0) earned his first LIDOM victory since December 14, 2021, limiting the scarlet offense to just one run in six innings, with seven strikeouts and one walk. His work silenced the offensive attempts of the Lions and marked his dominant return to the mound. With the triumph, the Tigres place their record at 15-19 and take a game and a half lead over the Escogido (14-21) in the fight for the important fourth qualifying place. The Leones suffered their third consecutive defeat. The scarlet opener Norge Ruiz (0-1) had a complicated night, allowing five runs and seven hits, including Mauricio's home run. Anderson Severino worked 1.2 innings, including an impeccable ninth inning, to earn the save.

Mauricio responds in his debut

The Licey took control of the game early. In the second inning, an error on a hit by Mel Rojas Jr., followed by a single by Cal Stevenson and a run-scoring hit by Armando Alvarez, put the Tigers ahead 1-0.

In the third, the blue offense exploded with four runs:

  • Single by Cristhian Adames,
  • Two-run homer by debutant Ronny,
  • Unstoppable producer by Rojas Jr.,
  • and double-driving by Stevenson.

Scarlet Reaction Attempt

The Lions scored in the sixth with a solo home run by Sócrates Brito, who finished with a home run and a single. In the eighth, they added two more thanks to a double by Erik González and a sacrifice fly by Eguy Rosario, making the score 5-3, but it was not enough to catch the Bengals.

For the Licey:

  • Ronny Mauricio: two-run homer.
  • Cal Stevenson: double and single.
  • Gustavo Núñez and Mel Rojas Jr.: two hits each.
  • Armando Alvarez, David Hensley and Cristhian Adames: one hit.
