SANTO DOMINGO. Right-handed pitcher Albert Abreu shone from the mound and Ronny Mauricio hit a home run in his much-anticipated debut to lead the Tigres del Licey to a 5-3 victory over the Leones del Escogido, in a game held this Friday at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium.

Abreu (1-0) earned his first LIDOM victory since December 14, 2021, limiting the scarlet offense to just one run in six innings, with seven strikeouts and one walk. His work silenced the offensive attempts of the Lions and marked his dominant return to the mound. With the triumph, the Tigres place their record at 15-19 and take a game and a half lead over the Escogido (14-21) in the fight for the important fourth qualifying place. The Leones suffered their third consecutive defeat. The scarlet opener Norge Ruiz (0-1) had a complicated night, allowing five runs and seven hits, including Mauricio's home run. The Licey took control of the game early. In the second inning, an error on a hit by Mel Rojas Jr., followed by a single by Cal Stevenson and a run-scoring hit by Armando Alvarez, put the Tigers ahead 1-0.In the third, the blue offense exploded with four runs:
