Santo Domingo. — The Advisory Commission appointed by President Luis Abinader to evaluate the construction of a new baseball stadium in the country, held a key meeting this Thursday in which the official requirements sent by Major League Baseball (MLB) were known regarding the necessary conditions for the new facility to be able to host regular season games and international events.
It was reported that both parties will be heard in due course, as has been done with other individuals and entities that have requested participation in the consultation process.

During the meeting, held at the offices of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), the members of the commission agreed to hire a court interpreter to translate into Spanish the document sent by MLB —originally in English—, in order to carry out an exhaustive evaluation before making a final decision on the project. Likewise, a progress report from the legal subcommittee was presented, comprised of the jurists Angélica Noboa Pagán, Elka Scheker Mendoza, Edgar Torres Reynoso and Julissa Vásquez, who are in charge of analyzing all legal and contractual aspects of the project. This subcommittee is advised by the prominent lawyer Olivo Rodríguez Huertas. Received Communications and Next Steps The commission also acknowledged receipt of the interview requests sent by Alejandro Marranzini Capano, legal representative of Championship Venture, Ltd., and by Eduardo Najri, president of the Escogido Baseball Club, who expressed interest in presenting their views on the work.It was reported that both parties will be heard in due course, as has been done with other individuals and entities that have requested participation in the consultation process.

In addition to the legal commissioners, the meeting was attended by Minister of Sports Kelvin Cruz, the General Director of Bandex, Catalino Correa Hiciano, the President of LIDOM, Vitelio Mejía Ortiz, and the National Baseball Commissioner, Junior Noboa. The president of the Consultative Commission, doctor Jorge Subero Isa, highlighted that the works are progressing according to what was established by the presidential mandate, ensuring that the project is developed with transparency, technical rigor and the due participation of all actors linked to baseball and the urban development of the area where the new stadium will be located.With the formal reception of MLB's requirements and the progress of legal evaluations, the Advisory Commission is moving towards the technical and legal design phase that will determine the final feasibility of the new Dominican Republic baseball stadium.“We are in a stage of analysis and information gathering. The goal is to ensure that the new stadium meets the highest international standards and serves as a national pride,” said Subero Isa.
