Baltimore, United States. The Baltimore Orioles have shown interest in interviewing legendary Dominican former player Albert Pujols to fill the position of manager for the upcoming Major League Baseball season, sources confirmed to ESPN.

Although the organization has not yet conducted a formal interview with Pujols, the process is expected to occur in the coming days as the team continues its search for a replacement for Brandon Hyde, fired after a disappointing campaign that concluded with 87 losses in 2025.
Tony Mansolino, who took over as interim manager after Hyde's departure in May, is also among the internal candidates. However, the Orioles are evaluating external options with a view to renewing their leadership on the bench. Baltimore's president of baseball operations, Mike Elias, maintains a professional relationship with Pujols since his time as a scout for the St. Louis Cardinals, where the Dominican shined in the first decade of his career. Pujols, 45 years old, has been praised for his leadership on and off the field. He recently led the Leones del Escogido to the Dominican winter league championship, reinforcing his profile as a potential strategist in the Major Leagues. Additionally, Pujols maintains a close relationship with Matt Holliday, his former teammate on the Cardinals and father of Jackson Holliday, the talented 21-year-old infielder who is one of the top prospects for the Orioles. According to industry sources, the Los Angeles Angels remain the most likely destination for Pujols, and so far they are the only team that has held a formal interview with the future Hall of Famer.
