BARCELONA. – FC Barcelona will not be able to count on full-backs Alejandro Balde and Jules Koundé for approximately one month, who suffered hamstring injuries in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final against Atlético de Madrid.

According to the club, after the medical tests carried out, Balde has an injury to the distal femoral biceps of his left leg, which will keep him out for around four weeks. For his part, Koundé is suffering an injury to the middle third of the left hamstring and will be out of action for between four and five weeks. Both defenders will miss at least five official matches, including the LaLiga games against Athletic Club, Sevilla FC and Rayo Vallecano, as well as the round of 16 tie of the UEFA Champions League against Newcastle United. Balde and Koundé join the list of injured players, which already included midfielders Frenkie de Jong and Gavi, as well as defender Andreas Christensen. In contrast, striker Robert Lewandowski, absent from the cup match due to an orbital fracture suffered against Villarreal, could reappear in the next league match at San Mamés, depending on his recovery.
