Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Milwaukee Brewers broke a six-game losing streak in postseason series and advanced to the National League Championship Series (NLCS), after defeating the Chicago Cubs 3-1 in the decisive fifth game of the Divisional Series, played before an euphoric crowd of 42,743 fans at American Family Field.

The Milwaukee team, which reached the postseason with the goal of breaking the losing streak that had haunted it since 2019, achieved it thanks to three solo home runs with two outs hit by William Contreras, Andrew Vaughn and Brice Turang, and an outstanding combined effort from their pitching staff.
"Not this year. This year the Brewers are moving forward," highlighted reporter Adam McCalvy, after the victory that returns the club to the elite of the Old Circuit.

Timely Power and Dominant Pitching

William Contreras opened the scoring with a solo home run in the third inning, followed by another hit from Andrew Vaughn that gave the definitive lead. Later, Brice Turang — who had had a complicated series — rounded out the victory with a safety home run. From the mound, the Brewers used five pitchers to complete the 27 outs, limiting the Cubs' offense to a single run. Young right-hander Jacob Misiorowski, who was key in the rotation, looked dominant by combining his powerful fastball with an effective mix of breaking pitches. Misiorowski pitched four solid innings with only three hits allowed, one run, and nine strikeouts, without issuing any walks. His fastball reached 101.4 mph, recording up to 25 pitches over 162 km/h between his two postseason appearances, a figure that places him among the fastest arms since 2008. Star closer Trevor Megill took on the role of opening the game as a luxury reliever, working a perfect first inning before giving way to the bullpen.

A Triumph with a Taste of Revenge

The victory had a special taste for Milwaukee fans, who still remembered the loss to the Dodgers in the 2018 Championship Series, when Craig Counsell, current manager of the Cubs, was the home manager of the Brewers. The result not only meant eliminating their divisional rival from the Interstate 94, but also demonstrating the resilience and maturity of a team that has known how to reinvent itself with young talents and key pieces like Christian Yelich, Contreras and Turang.

Next step: the Dodgers

With the series resolved 3-2 in their favor, the Brewers advance to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.
Game 1 is scheduled for Monday at 7:08 p.m. (Central Time), again at American Family Field, broadcast on TBS, truTV, and HBO Max.
Final Score: Brewers 3 – Cubs 1
Series: Brewers win 3-2
Home Runs: Contreras (HR), Vaughn (HR), Turang (HR)
Venue: American Family Field, Milwaukee
Attendance: 42,743 spectators.
