The Romanenses also had the contribution of the rookie Allan Castro, who connected two doubles and extended to four his consecutive games with multiple hits since his debut. With the victory, the Toros (19-16) consolidate in the second place of the championship and tie 4-4 the particular series against the Estrellas, which now record a mark of 16-20. The shutout allows the taurinos to extend their lead to three and a half games over the verdes in the fight for classification.

Brooks Dominates From Start to Finish

Starting pitcher Aaron Brooks (2-3, 3.12) was unhittable for 6.1 scoreless innings, limiting the Orientals to four hits, without giving up walks and striking out five rivals. His work completely silenced the green offense, which failed in seven opportunities with runners in scoring position.

Unleashed Power: De La Cruz and Candelario Hit it Out

The offensive surge found its peak in the ninth inning, when Jeimer Candelario opened the inning with his first home run of the season, a solo shot to right field. A few minutes later, Bryan De La Cruz hit a monumental grand slam to left field, his sixth home run of the tournament and his second with the bases loaded this season. De La Cruz reached 32 RBIs, the absolute leader of the league, and became the fourth player in history of LIDOM to hit at least two grand slams in the same season.

Historic Night for Celestino

Gilberto Celestino stole his number 20 base of the tournament, becoming the first Toros player to reach that figure since Eugenio Vélez (2012-13), while also extending his record for consecutive steals within the franchise.
