MIAMI. – The Dominican Republic's offense continues to make history in the 2026 World Baseball Classic by setting a new home run record in the first four games of the tournament.
During the match against Venezuela, the Dominican power made itself felt early on when Juan Soto, Ketel Marte, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Fernando Tatis Jr. hit home runs in the first three innings of the game.
With those hits, the Quisqueyan team reached a total of 13 home runs in their first four games of the championship, the highest number recorded by a team in that stretch of a World Classic. The previous record was 12 home runs, established by Mexico (baseball team) in the 2009 edition, according to data from Elias Sports Bureau.
The Dominican offensive power has been one of the main weapons of the team led by Albert Pujols, which has shown a lineup full of Major League figures capable of changing the game with a single swing.
In addition to setting the new mark in the first four games, the Caribbean squad is also approaching the record for most home runs hit by a team in a single World Baseball Classic. That mark also belongs to Mexico, which hit 14 home runs in 2009. (Lidom)
With the offensive pace shown by Dominican batters, it would not be surprising if the team can surpass that figure and continue to expand its historical footprint in the international tournament. ⚾🇩🇪
