SAN PEDRO DE MACORÍS. – The Estrellas Orientales announced the hiring of Héctor Borg as their new manager for the upcoming season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), the club reported through an official statement.

Borg, a native of San Pedro de Macorís and 40 years old, has extensive experience in Dominican baseball. In the last three seasons he served as bench coach for the Tigres del Licey, including the past one. Previously he was part of the coaching staff of the Toros del Este, an organization with which he worked six seasons as a third base coach, four as a bench coach and three as an assistant to the general manager. In organized baseball in the United States, Borg belongs to the San Francisco Giants organization. For the 2026 season, he was promoted to the position of third base coach for the Major League team, after several years as a manager in the Minor Leagues of that organization. Among the most relevant milestones in his career is his work as a leader of the Dominican Republic national team that won the bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, a historic achievement for Dominican baseball. "This is a commitment I take on with great responsibility," Borg expressed after his hiring was made official. The new leader expressed his enthusiasm for joining the work alongside the board of directors, the baseball operations department, and the coaching staff, with the aim of building a competitive team. Borg also called on the green fanbase to support the team from the start of the season, convinced that, with collective effort, the Estrellas can aspire to a new championship for San Pedro de Macorís.
