Santo Domingo – Dominican manager Gilbert Gómez, a member of the Tigres del Licey coaching staff, led the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Advanced A affiliate of the New York Mets, to win the South Atlantic League championship, a title the team obtains for the first time since joining that circuit and the third in the franchise's history.

The season was historic for the Cyclones under the leadership of Gomez. The team set a franchise record with 72 regular season wins and won the North Division crown in the first half of the schedule. In the postseason, they completed a perfect performance with a 4-0 record, sweeping Greensboro and Hub City on their way to the championship.
2025 has been a year of great achievements for Gómez, who was named manager of the “Breakout Game” in the Major League Baseball preseason, facing his counterpart and assistant at Licey, Héctor Borg. In addition, he was appointed as assistant to manager Albert Pujols for the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
With international experience, Gómez was also a batting and third base coach with the Dominican Republic national team that won the bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The young foreman is currently in his fifth season with the Tigres del Licey, an organization in which he has held positions ranging from quality control coach to champion manager, after leading the blues to the title in the 2023-24 season, in addition to playing two consecutive Final Series.
