Gavin was a stellar figure for the long-haired players during the conquest of the 17th crown last season, winning a game and combining nine innings of a single run in two appearances. After Gavin, Cintrón indicated that the Puerto Rican left-hander Jonathan Bermúdez will be the starting pitcher for the national and Caribbean champions, in the game against the Estrellas Orientales, also at the Quisqueya, but this time as the home team. According to Cintrón, the Leones project a high-quality team to take the field on the first day. He highlighted Sócrates Brito, Junior Lake, Alexander Canario, and Franchy Cordero. He also mentioned Erik González, Martín Maldonado, Yamaico Navarro, César Prieto and Jonathan Araz, among others, highlighting the depth of the red team from the capital. "I am very excited that we will finally be on the field and on a big stage. We have the challenge of going out to win and seek a new championship for the Lions," Cintrón told the press after Tuesday's training. "This is a united group, that knows how to play, that knows the league. We have good pitchers and a good balance between left-handed and right-handed hitters. This gives us options for game strategies," he continued saying. The first duel of the tournament between the "eternal rivals" is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM
