Jasson Domínguez has finally established himself as a starter for the New York Yankees, sparking a shared feeling in the organization: enthusiasm.

Nicknamed “The Martian” since his days as an elite prospect, Domínguez debuted with great impact in September 2023, hitting a home run in his first at-bat against Justin Verlander. But soon after, Tommy John surgery halted his promising breakthrough in the Major Leagues. In 2024, already recovered, he found it difficult to find playing time, competing in an outfield packed with stars like
Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, and Alex Verdugo.
However, with Soto’s departure in the past offseason, an opportunity opened up for Dominguez. And the young Dominican has not wasted his moment. After a solid month of May, he has shone even more recently, with an offensive line of
.383/.415/.583, two home runs and eight RBIs in his last 60 at-bats before Thursday.
“It definitely feels good,” Dominguez confessed. “Now that I’m getting the opportunity, it really feels very good. That’s what one as a player wants, to play every day and have the opportunity to help the team win.”

Aaron Boone praised his overall growth: “He has taken great strides, especially on defense. He has continued to improve hitting right-handed and is making a real impact on the team.”
For his part, Luis Rojas, third base coach and responsible for the development of the outfielders, highlighted his defensive evolution: “He is taking better routes, reading the ball better. It’s really nice to see the development of a young man with as much talent as Jasson”.
With 63 games as a left fielder, 14 stolen bases in 16 attempts, and consistent offensive performance, Domínguez has established himself as a key piece in the present and future of the New York team.
