The feat occurred just one day after Pawol debuted in MLB, marking a new chapter in his already pioneering career. The match, which concluded with a home victory of 7-1, was full of competitive normality, but also of moments of recognition for his achievement.
One of them arrived in the fourth inning, when the Braves' pitching coach, Rick Kranitz, visited starter Joey Wentz. The crowd interrupted with applause upon noticing Pawol's presence approaching the mound.
“It's been a whirlwind,” the umpire commented to the coach, who did not hesitate to congratulate her: “She handled it excellently. This only happens once in history and it's incredible.”
