United States - The Toronto Blue Jays acquired Dominican outfielder Jesús Sánchez from the Houston Astros in exchange for fellow outfielder Joey Loperfido, in a move made official on Friday.

Sánchez, 28 years old, participated in 134 games during the 2025 season with the Miami Marlins and Houston, recording a batting average of .237, an on-base percentage of .304 and a slugging percentage of .395, as well as 14 home runs, 48 RBIs and 13 stolen bases. Defensively, he accumulated seven Defensive Runs Saved in the outfield.
The player, originally from Higüey, was originally signed by the Tampa Bay Rays as an international free agent in 2014 and debuted in the Major Leagues in 2020. In six MLB seasons, he has an offensive line of .239/.307/.420 with 73 home runs and 238 RBIs in 580 games.
For his part, Loperfido, 26, played in 2025 between Toronto and the Triple-A team Buffalo Bisons. In 41 games in the Major Leagues, he batted .333 with an OPS of .879, while in the minor league he recorded an OPS of .742 in 91 matches. The lefty debuted in MLB with Houston in 2024 and has a lifetime average of .248 with 39 RBIs in 122 games between both franchises.
