ATLANTA. Dominican third baseman Junior Caminero stated that discipline, sacrifice, and the ability to make adjustments have been key to establishing himself as one of the most prominent young figures in Major League Baseball and earning a spot in the All-Star Game.

The slugger explained that his philosophy has been to stay completely focused during the season, setting aside distractions to concentrate on his development as a ballplayer.
“You have to focus, you have to make sacrifices. It’s a mindset of dedicating these years to your career so that later you can enjoy everything you have achieved,” said Caminero.
The Dominican player pointed out that during the seven months of competition, he tries to dedicate all his energy to baseball and reserves his rest time to spend with his family once the season ends.
He knew how to respond to pitching adjustments
Caminero acknowledged that at the beginning of the season, pitchers found a way to attack him thanks to the reports prepared on his performance from the previous year, but he highlighted that he reacted quickly to regain his level.

“Pitchers make adjustments, just like we do. They knew my weaknesses and started attacking me that way, but I also had to make adjustments. I changed what wasn’t working for me and today I am seeing the results,” he explained.
A special All-Star Game
The third baseman described it as a privilege to be part of the All-Star Game, where he shares the stage with the best players in Major League Baseball.
“First, we must thank God. Being here with all these stars and experiencing such a special moment means so much to me,” he stated.

Regarding his participation in the Home Run Derby, Caminero assured that he will approach the competition with humility and confidence, although he left the result in God’s hands.
“I will try to give my best. God is the one who knows who that victory belongs to and who deserves it,” concluded the young Dominican slugger, who will seek to become the next representative from the Dominican Republic to win the traditional home run derby.
