Asigen, a native of Puerto Plata and just 16 years old, is the number two prospect in MLB Pipeline's international Top 50 and the highest-rated Dominican in his class, solidifying himself as one of the most important signings of the current recruitment period. The young shortstop had previously had an agreement with the New York Yankees, but decided to withdraw from it in December, which opened the door for the Mets to enter the scene and secure his signing. With this hiring, the Queens organization adds a player that evaluators consider an immediate impact talent.
“He is a number one”, said an international scout referring to Asigen's potential.
