Miami.– The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, announced that the Ministry of Tourism will be the official sponsor of the Dominican team of baseball in the upcoming Olympic Games in Los Angeles, as part of the Government's support for the development of sport and the international promotion of the Dominican Republic.
The announcement was made during a press conference held at LoanDepot Park, within the framework of the World Baseball Classic semi-final game between Dominican Republic and United States.

Collado explained that the support for the Dominican team is part of a strategy to boost sports tourism and strengthen the projection of the country brand internationally.“The Ministry of Tourism is going to strongly support the Federation for the Los Angeles Olympics. This is a commitment we are making because that medal is for the Dominican Republic,” said the official.
The minister highlighted that the performance of the Dominican team in the World Baseball Classic has had a positive impact on the visibility of the country, especially in the US market, the main source of tourists to the Dominican Republic. During the meeting, the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz; the general manager of the Dominican team, Nelson Cruz; and the president of the Dominican Baseball Federation, Juan Núñez, also participated, who valued the Government's support for national baseball and the team that represents the country in the tournament. Nelson Cruz highlighted that institutional support has been key to the formation of the Dominican team and to strengthen the national baseball structure, while thanking the authorities for their support. The authorities agreed that the performance of the Dominican selection has aroused enthusiasm among fans and has contributed to projecting the image of the country on international sports stages.
