Hall of Fame immortals David Ortiz, Adrián Beltré, and Pedro Martínez were in charge of making the first ceremonial pitch, unleashing the ovation of the Dominican public present in the stadium. The ceremony was part of the support that several historical figures of Dominican baseball have given to the team during the tournament. Days before, Hall of Famer Juan Marichal had participated in the honorary pitch prior to another game of the Quisqueyan team. With this participation, four of the five Dominicans who belong to the Cooperstown Hall of Fame have played a prominent role in the ceremonial acts of the last matches of the national team. The only one who has not yet made the ceremonial pitch is Vladimir Guerrero.
