Milwaukee — With a masterful performance by Blake Snell, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1 in the first game of the National League Championship Series (NLCS), played this Monday at American Family Field.

Snell pitched eight one-hit innings and struck out ten, facing the minimum number of batters and becoming the first pitcher since Don Larsen (1956) to achieve such a feat in a postseason game. His absolute dominance silenced the home offense, which could barely generate any threat until the ninth inning. The Dodgers' attack was led by Freddie Freeman, who hit a solo home run in the sixth inning, and by Mookie Betts, who drove in the second run with a bases-loaded walk in the ninth inning. Although Milwaukee tried to react in its last offensive opportunity, loading the bases against closer Roki Sasaki, Blake Treinen struck out Brice Turang to seal the victory for the Angels. The game also left one of the most unusual plays of the postseason: a 8-6-2 double play in the fourth inning, after a hit by Max Muncy that generated confusion on the bases and was applauded by the home crowd for its spectacularity. With this victory, the Dodgers take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 2 will be played this Tuesday, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto scheduled to start for Los Angeles, while the Brewers will seek to tie the series at home.
