Espino will be in his eighth season in Dominican winter ball as a reinforcement after seven years with the Toros del Este. The Panamanian is one of only five pitchers in the entire history of LIDOM to win the pitching triple crown after achieving it in the 2023-24 season, when he finished as co-leader in wins (4), absolute leader in strikeouts (49) and led all pitchers in ERA (2.40). Lifetime in Lidom, he has pitched 305 innings and two-thirds in all stages with an effectiveness of 3.09, a whip of 1.03 allowing an opponent's batting average of .219 with 66 walks and 257 strikeouts. The 38-year-old veteran has five years of Major League experience with the Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers, Washington Nationals, and the Toronto Blue Jays. During the summer, he pitched with the Conspiradores de Querétaro in the Mexican Summer League. The right-handed pitcher has an arsenal of four pitches: four-seam fastball, curveball, slider, and changeup. The Panamanian reinforcement will be available from the first day of the season. The Tigres del Licey begin their home season next Wednesday, October 15, when they receive the visit of the Leones del Escogido starting at 7:30 pm.
