Miami, Florida. – United States defeated the Dominican Republic 2-1 this Sunday and secured its ticket to the grand final of the 2026 World Baseball Classic, thus achieving its third consecutive final in the tournament.

The semifinal match, held at loanDepot Park in Miami, was a close duel of pitching and defense. The Dominican Republic took the lead early thanks to a home run by third baseman Junior Caminero, but the American team responded in the fourth inning with consecutive home runs by Gunnar Henderson and Roman Anthony to take the definitive lead.

Dominican opener Luis Severino had a solid performance from the mound, while the stellar right-hander Paul Skenes opened for the United States. However, the American relief managed to contain the Quisqueyan offense in the key moments of the game.

In the last innings, the Dominican Republic threatened to tie the game, but the American bullpen, led by Garrett Whitlock and Mason Miller, managed to close the game and secure the victory for their team.

With this triumph, the United States advanced to the World Baseball Classic final, where they will face on Tuesday the winner of the semifinal duel between the Italy national baseball team and the Venezuela national baseball team.

The American team will now seek to conquer its second World Baseball Classic title, in what will be another opportunity to consolidate its recent dominance in the most important international baseball tournament.
