SANTO DOMINGO. – Friday's games in the Dominican winter league left results that, although they did not cause drastic changes in the standings, did adjust the distance between the teams in contention, with the Toros del Este still firm in second place, the Gigantes who do not give up and an Escogido that falls further into the basement.
Ronny Mauricio shined with a home run in his debut, Albert Abreu got his first win of the tournament and the Tigres del Licey defeated the Leones del Escogido 5-3, who are going through a worrying streak of three consecutive losses.
At the same time, the Toros del Este shut out the Estrellas Orientales 7-0, showing dominance from the mound and timely power, while the Gigantes del Cibao manufactured a key rally to beat the Águilas Cibaeñas, leaders of the championship, 7-3.
