SANTIAGO.- Los Toros del Este won in an exciting baseball marathon by defeating the Águilas Cibaeñas 14-7 on Friday night at the Cibao Stadium, achieving their first victory of the 2025-2026 season dedicated to Juan Marichal and inflicting the first defeat on the Eagles.

The matchup completed the two-game miniseries between both teams: the Eagles had won on Thursday 11-4, but the taurines got even last night with a 17-hit attack. The victory went to reliever Jarlin García (1-0), while the Eagles' starter, Carlos Peña (0-1), took the loss after pitching 2.2 innings with one earned run, four walks, and three strikeouts. For their part, the Nicaraguan Carlos Rodríguez started for the Toros, working 3.2 innings with two earned runs allowed. The bullfighting offensive was led by Francisco Urbáez (4-4), Felnin Celesten (HR and single), Yairo Muñoz (a double and two singles), Ronaldo Hernández (double and two hits) and Mickye Gasper (double). For the Eagles, Emmanuel Rodríguez hit a home run, while José “Popeye” Rodríguez contributed a double and a single; Juan Lagares, two hits; and Aderlin Rodríguez, Rayner Delgado, Alfredo Reyes, Webster Rivas, Ángel Genao and Eddy Leonard a double each. The scoreboard opened with a bull run in the first inning and expanded to 4-0 at the start of the fourth inning with a home run by Celesten. The Eagles reacted with a home run by Emmanuel Rodríguez, closing the gap to 4-2, but the Toros scored distance again in the fifth and sealed the decisive advantage with five runs in the seventh, putting the game at 11-4 and consolidating the victory. After this result, the Águilas Cibaeñas will travel this Saturday to San Francisco de Macorís to face the Gigantes del Cibao at the Julián Javier Stadium.
