LeBron James will make history by becoming the only player with 23 seasons in the NBA

CHICAGO (USA).– LeBron James, star of the Los Angeles Lakers, is preparing to start his 23rd season in the NBA, becoming the only player in league history to reach such a number. At 41 years old, the “King” continues to break barriers in a career marked by longevity, excellence, and historical impact.

The player born in Akron, Ohio, will not be available for the inaugural game on October 21 against the Golden State Warriors due to sciatic nerve discomfort. However, he is expected to return to action soon to face his first full season alongside Slovenian Luka Doncic, with whom he will seek his fifth championship ring. In the midst of rumors about his retirement, LeBron clarified that, although the end of his career is near, he continues to enjoy every day on the court.

“I know the end is near, but I don't take anything for granted. Being able to continue competing and being respected on the track fills me with satisfaction,” declared the four-time MVP.

The veteran forward joked about his age, assuring that "wine improves with age" and that his longevity is due, in part, to his discipline and rest.

An unprecedented career

LeBron debuted in the NBA in 2003, selected as the number one draft pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers. After winning two championships with the Miami Heat, he returned to Cleveland to fulfill his promise of delivering the first title in the franchise's history in 2016, in a memorable final against the Golden State Warriors. In 2018, he joined the Los Angeles Lakers, where he added his fourth ring in 2020 and fulfilled another dream: sharing a team with his son, Bronny James, during the last season. James is the NBA's all-time leading scorer, after surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record (38,387 points) in 2023. In addition, he is the only player with more than 30,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 10,000 assists, a demonstration of his total impact on the game.

The "Chosen One's" Legacy

Beyond the numbers, LeBron has established himself as a global sports icon, a symbol of longevity, leadership, and consistency. With 23 seasons in the elite, the "King" seeks to continue defying time and extend a career that is already written in golden letters in NBA history.
