The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 PM, when officers responded to a multiple-vehicle accident on Highway 101 and detected a vehicle stopped in one of the lanes south of the incident. At that moment, Pierce was found sleeping at the wheel of his Range Rover, which prompted an investigation by local authorities. During the inspection, officers observed signs indicating possible impairment to drive, so they proceeded to arrest him on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The case will be submitted for review by the Los Angeles City Attorney, in accordance with the corresponding legal protocols. Pierce, 47 years old, is widely recognized for his career in the NBA, especially with the Boston Celtics, the team with which he achieved much of his recognition in the league.
