Víctor Peña will be the leader of San Carlos in the National District Superior Basketball

Santo Domingo. – The renowned Santiago-based coach Víctor Peña will take over the direction of the San Carlos Club in the 2025 edition of the Superior Basketball Tournament of the National District (TBS Distrito), organized by ABADINA and scheduled to begin on September 20th. The award-winning coach reached an agreement with the historic “Las 5 Esquinas” franchise, who will immediately take the reins of the training of the green and yellow team. Peña, chosen National Leader of the Year 2024 by the Dominican Basketball Federation, is one of the most successful coaches in the country. He has won the Coach of the Year award in the Santiago Superior Tournament five times, including the last four consecutively. His career supports him with multiple crowns in superior tournaments of Esperanza, Villa Rivas, Mao, Monte Cristi, Dajabón, Laguna Salada, El Seibo, Navarrete, La Romana, Moca, Puerto Plata and Santiago. Likewise, he guided the Fénix Basketball team from his native Santiago to the championship of the National Development League (LND) First Division. “I am very honored and grateful to join a club with the tradition and prestige of San Carlos. I have closely followed the signings and I know that we have a group ready to compete in a big way. My commitment is to give my best to win the cup and be part of this history,” said Peña. The ten-time national champions have already confirmed Jaison Valdez and Sterling Manley as reinforcements, and have a solid core of native players led by Juan Guerrero, Anyeuri Castillo and Eddy Polanco. Added to this talent is the youth of Josué Salazar, Kevin Pérez, Kevin Mateo, Enmanuel Labata and Patricio Morillo, along with the experience of veteran Manuel Guzmán, who returns once again to the squad. In the coming days, the San Carlos directive will announce to the coaching staff who will accompany Peña on the bench.
