SANTO DOMINGO. – Dominican world champion Carlos Adames, known as “El Caballo Bronco” (The Bronco Horse), will defend his middleweight title (160 pounds) sanctioned by the World Boxing Council against American Austin Williams, on March 21st at the Caribe Royale Resort, in Orlando, Florida.

The match, agreed to 12 rounds, will be the main event of a card that will be broadcast live worldwide on the DAZN platform. Adames and Williams were initially scheduled to face each other on January 31 at Madison Square Garden, but the fight was canceled due to last-minute health complications that affected the Dominican champion. This will be Adames' third defense as the WBC regular monarch, a title he conquered on October 8, 2022, after defeating Mexican Juan Macías Montiel by knockout in the third round. Since then, "El Caballo Bronco" has made four defenses in total, including one as interim champion against American Julian Williams, whom he defeated by the quick route. As a regular champion, he defeated Terrell Gausha by unanimous decision and later drew in Saudi Arabia against the British Hamzah Sheeraz, in a controversial fight that generated extensive debate among analysts and fans. Adames, who hasn't stepped into the ring since February 2025, has a professional record of 24 wins, 18 of them by knockout, with one draw and one loss. Williams, for his part, has 19 victories —13 by way of knockout— and only one loss. From his training camp in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Dominican champion sent a forceful message ahead of the commitment:

“Life doesn't repeat opportunities. If you escaped once, consider it a miracle. Fate forgives once; then it charges. Not everyone gets two warnings. He already used one. Danger will come to Orlando on March 21st.”

Adames, one of the two active world champions currently in the Dominican Republic, is preparing under the direction of the experienced Cuban coach Ismael Salas, fine-tuning details for a defense that promises to be explosive.
