Costa Rican duo defeats United States at the Junior Racquetball World Championships

SANTO DOMINGO. – The Costa Rican duo of Felipe Porras and Gabriel Rojas achieved a dominant 3-0 (11-1, 11-8, 11-5) victory over Americans Reyansh Chandel and Ashvin Aggarwal, in the men's doubles modality of the 12 years and under category, during this Monday's day at the Junior Racquetball World Championship, which is being held in the pavilion of this discipline at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.

In the same category, Mexicans Hermann Gracia and Max Soto easily defeated Dominicans Reynell de León and Mehivel García, with a score of 11-2, 11-1, 11-3.
Likewise, the United States representatives Alden Townsend and Ryan Joeckel won 3-0 (11-3, 11-3, 11-2) against Dominicans Emerson Mora and Deikel de León. In women's singles, category 14 years old, Bolivian Adriana Bazán defeated American Shreiya Chandel 3-0 (11-1, 12-10, 11-6).
Mexican Grisel Gómez starred in a spectacular comeback to defeat Bolivian Renata Saavedra Rodríguez, with partials of 8-11, 8-11, 11-3, 11-9 and 11-8. Another Bolivian, Valentina Villarroel Garzón, recovered from the setback suffered by her compatriot by defeating the Mexican Karla Medrano 11-8, 11-3, 13-15, 11-5. In that same category, the Argentinian Rafaela Páez Bejarano dominated with a score of 11-2, 11-4, 11-2 against the Ecuadorian Victoria Villacreses. In other results, Costa Rican Larissa Faeth defeated Ivana Salamea, from Ecuador, with a score of 11-7, 11-2, 11-15.

In the 16 years and under category, the Mexican Axel Sánchez defeated the American Grant Williams in an exciting match decided 7-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-4, 11-6.
The Guatemalan Yordi Navarijo also achieved victory, winning 11-7, 12-10, 11-7 over the Chilean Ignacio Andrés Gutiérrez Orellana.

The Santo Domingo 2025 Junior Racquetball World Championship brings together athletes from Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, and Dominican Republic.
The competitions continue this Tuesday from 9:00 in the morning until 9:00 at night, with action in singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.
