Santiago.– The Águilas Cibaeñas team called the decision by the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) to annul the game they won last Friday against the Toros del Este surprising and disproportionate, after the latter team requested the confiscation of the game alleging a supposed violation of the limit of imported players allowed on the roster.
The Eagles' management reacted with annoyance, assuring that the list of players was sent in advance to both LIDOM and the Toros del Este and that said roster was validated without any prior objections. You may be interested in: http://LIDOM informs protest by the Toros del Este and clarifies pending impact on the standing
According to the Santiago team, it is striking that the claim occurred when the match already showed a clear favorable trend in their favor. Through a statement, the organization expressed that, although they recognize the authority of the league, the sanction applied is not proportionate to the fault indicated. In their opinion, if there were any irregularity, it would have been appropriate to impose an administrative or economic sanction, and not a measure that directly alters the sporting result by ordering the repetition of the match. The Eagles reiterated their commitment to compliance with the regulations and to the transparency of the tournament, while defending the legitimacy of their performance in the canceled match, whose repetition was ordered by the presidency of LIDOM.
