Zona Higuamo, weightlifting champion in School Games LA VEGA.- The Higuamo zone was proclaimed champion of the weightlifting competitions after accumulating a total of 29 medals at the conclusion of the competitions in this discipline, which was part of the calendar of the XI National School Sports Games San Francisco 2025 and which took place at the Enriquillo Club in this sub-venue city. The second place went to the representative of Cibao Southwest, with 13 medals, while the weightlifting team of Cibao Sur took the third step with 17 metals. The Higuamo medals were distributed in 20 gold, six silver and three bronze, while those of Cibao Southwest in four gold, three silver and six bronze. Meanwhile, those of Cibao Sur were divided into three first place, ten second place and four third place. The final game was held at the softball stadium of the vegan sports complex. It is the second consecutive time that the representatives of the Southwest zone (Barahona and Neyba) have won the gold medal, precisely against this same rival, who obtained the silver. The previous occasion occurred in the National School Sports Games Barahona 2023. Carola Feliz was the most outstanding player, offensively, by connecting a double with three RBIs. The competitions take place at the Polivalente Willyvaldo Paulino Rivas, located in the municipality of Salcedo, the official sub-venue for this discipline. In mixed doubles, the gold medal went to El Higuamo representatives Jairo Robles and Eduarny de la Cruz. Silver also remained in the hands of this area, thanks to the duo formed by Harold Hernández and Sandra Mejía, while the bronze was shared by the couples of Cibao Norte, Eydhrian Paulino and Dixsany Silverio, and Dariel Bernard and Lesli Pérez.
