FOXBOROUGH, Massachusetts – Tom Brady, considered by many as the best player in NFL history, was immortalized this Friday with a bronze statue at Gillette Stadium, a tribute that he himself defined as a tribute “to the greatness of the New England Patriots” and not to a single player.

"I know what this statue represents, and it's not about a single player. It never was, and in American football, it never will be. It's about the greatness of a team and the commitment of everyone who forged the Patriots dynasty," said Brady, who led the team to six Super Bowl titles. Patriots owner Robert Kraft led the ceremony and unveiled the 5.2-meter-tall sculpture in front of dozens of fans. The statue, mounted on a hexagonal granite base, features the dates and achievements of the seven Super Bowl editions in which Brady was champion, six with New England and one with Tampa Bay. "Thank you for being here to honor and immortalize the legendary career of a sports icon, the best NFL player of all time," Kraft noted, who explained that the height of the piece symbolizes the 17 divisional titles won under the leadership of the quarterback. In a relaxed tone, Brady joked about the demands that marked his career, pretending to receive a call from his former coach Bill Belichick:The 47-year-old former quarterback holds numerous NFL records, including the most regular season wins (251), most passing yards (89,214), and most touchdown passes (649). In addition, he was a 15-time Pro Bowl selection, a three-time NFL Most Valuable Player, and a five-time Super Bowl MVP. The unveiling of the statue took place minutes before the preseason duel between the Patriots and Washington Commanders, reinforcing the legacy of the one who marked two decades of history in the New England franchise.“I'm sorry, but Coach Belichick says the statue still has room for improvement… don't be disappointed, I know that feeling.”
