The ball that France and Spain will debut this Tuesday in Dallas, in the first semifinal of the 2026 World Cup, has a new design, pays tribute to the latest host cities, and maintains the sensor that already caused controversy with VAR, as explained by FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
The Finalissima will debut in the four decisive matches: the two semifinals, the third-place play-off, and the grand final at MetLife Stadium.
What is the 2026 World Cup Final Trionda
The Final Trionda has a black base with gold accents and red and pink details. According to Adidas, the gold finish “evokes the World Cup trophy,” while the black background “enhances the look of the ball.” In addition, the names of the four host cities for the final stretch—Dallas, Atlanta, Miami, and New York/New Jersey—are prominently printed.

Between the 2006 World Cup in Germany and the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the special match ball was only introduced for the final. However, starting with Qatar 2022, FIFA moved that tradition up to the semifinals, and for this North American World Cup, they decided to repeat the formula. It is worth noting that this is the first time an exclusive design has been created for the final phase, rather than just a change in color.
The players of the four teams still in contention in the 2026 World Cup have already held their first training sessions with the Trionda Final, which continues to feature the Connected Ball, the motion sensor housed inside the ball that operates at 500 Hz, records every contact with the ball, and sends real-time data to the VAR.
Apart from its new look, the Final Trionda, according to FIFA, changes nothing for the players, as it has the same four-panel heat-bonded construction, the same shape, and the same texture as the original Trionda. According to Adidas, this means that footballers will find “the same speed, bounce, and feel” they became accustomed to throughout the tournament.
