Sports Desk. – The Spanish national team will face its final preparation friendly before the 2026 World Cup without three of its main attacking wingers. Lamine Yamal, Nico Williams, and Víctor Muñoz did not travel to Puebla, Mexico, and have been ruled out for this Monday’s match against Peru due to muscle discomfort.
The three footballers continue with their respective recovery processes and remained at Spain’s base camp in Chattanooga, United States, where they will continue working separately under medical supervision.
The team led by Luis de la Fuente completed its final training session this Sunday before the friendly match, with the rest of the available players ready for the World Cup debut against Cape Verde on June 15th.
Lamine Yamal, a key figure for FC Barcelona, has not participated in group training sessions since the start of the Spanish national team’s training camp on May 30th, following an injury sustained on April 22nd during a LaLiga match against Celta de Vigo. Nico Williams has been dealing with muscle discomfort since May, while Víctor Muñoz was injured in the final stretch of the season.
During an interaction with followers on his YouTube channel, Lamine also revealed personal details and curiosities about his career. The young forward explained that he started bandaging his right hand after hurting it while playing video games and decided to keep the habit because he liked the style, comparing it to the former French striker Karim Benzema.
Likewise, he confessed that he hoped to win the Ballon d’Or, although he assured that he felt happy that the award was obtained by the Frenchman Ousmane Dembélé, whom he defined as an important person in his personal and footballing growth.
The Spanish striker also promised to grow a beard and mustache for several weeks if Spain manages to win the 2026 World Cup and assured that one of his greatest lessons after the European Championship was understanding the importance of staying calm in long tournaments.
