The Dominican Selection stood up to the two-time world champion and was close to obtaining a positive result with the presence of 7,777 fans.
Dominicana warned from the first minute with Junior Firpo's service from the left for Dorny Romero, who rose well, but the rival goalkeeper anticipated the aerial pass.
The Uruguayans had a dangerous opportunity at the 11th minute when a low pass from the left wing came out, which Luciano Rodríguez shot first time wide.
When half an hour of the match had been played, Romero intercepted a pass in his own territory and through the central corridor, which originated an important counterattack alongside Edarlyn Reyes on the left flank, but the final pass for Dorny was a bit behind, which prevented the one-on-one with Cristopher Fiermarín.
The Sedofútbol rounded off a first half without complications, however, at 40’ the celeste had a couple of opportunities that were resolved by the Quisqueyan goalkeeper Xavier Valdéz. Oscar Ureña would respond with a good play in attack in which he ended up shooting from the balcony of the area, but head-on to the rival goalkeeper.
With the goalless parity they would go to the break and the Dominican Republic with the feeling that they could have achieved something more in that first half.
In the start of the complement -minute 49’- Heinz Morschel stole a ball on the right lane of the first Uruguayan zone, passed it to Ureña who made a filtered pass to the area, but the defense cleared it to the corner kick. Two minutes later Morschel himself shot at the goal from a free kick, but the ball went over the crossbar.
At the 61st minute, Ignacio Laquintana entered the Quisqueyan area from the right sector and put his team ahead with a cross shot at mid-height.
Ronaldo Vásquez, who had entered in the second half, showed his quality to evade the Uruguayan left-back and enter the rival penalty area, taking a cross and low shot that was slightly deflected by a defender, stifling the Dominican Republic's goal cry at 69'.
Around the 73rd minute, Juan Familia arrived from the left and delivered a ground pass that Erick Japa could have finished, but it went wide.
Despite the good presentation, the Dominican Republic could not find the goal that would allow them to equalize the scoreboard and avoid defeat against the South American team.
The Dominican Republic National Team's next matches will be next November in Santiago de los Caballeros.
