Sergio Ramos reiterates his interest in buying Sevilla in a meeting with its shareholders

Seville, (EFE).- Defender Sergio Ramos, who has not yet announced his retirement as a footballer after leaving Mexican club Rayados de Monterrey in December, has reiterated his intention to buy Sevilla FC in a meeting held with some of the club's leading shareholders.

Sergio Ramos, former player of Sevilla and Real Madrid, among other clubs, traveled this past Thursday to the Andalusian capital and had an informal meeting with representatives of some of the main shareholders of the entity, sources close to the parties told EFE. The player from Camas (Seville) burst onto the scene at the end of 2025 in the sale process that Sevilla is immersed in, when the offer that, at the head of a group of investors, he had presented to some of the main shareholders of the club, who, however, were negotiating at the time with an American fund, became known.

American Background

Sources close to the operation then informed EFE that the Ramos family and their partners were willing to disburse more than 400 million euros, although an exclusivity document in the negotiation obliged the sellers not to move forward with the operation while the interest of the Americans persisted.

Between New Year's Eve and Epiphany, this first American investment group gave up on the purchase, but not to clear the way for Sergio Ramos, since the families that own Sevilla (Del Nido, Alés, Castro, Guijarro and Carrión) began negotiations with a second American fund.

In principle, the owners' desire of the club -and of the lawyers who mediate in the operation, Alberto Pérez Solano and Juan de Dios Crespo- is to sell it preferably to a foreign buyer, as was evident with their expeditious rejection of the offer presented last spring by the Sevillian businessmen Antonio Lappí and Fede Quintero. Despite this, Sergio Ramos wanted to reactivate the operation this week, for which he traveled to Seville on Thursday in the company of lawyer Julio Senn and held an informal meeting with representatives of the Carrión and Alés families, who were advised by lawyer Pérez Solano.

Short period of time

In the same, according to sources close to the parties who have revealed to EFE, the Cameroonian footballer began the commitment that his offer will be studied in the event that the exclusive negotiation period with this second American investment fund expires without an agreement being reached. The aforementioned sources estimate that these negotiations will lean, in whatever direction, in a short space of time, since the potential buyer has considered valid the diagnosis of the economic situation of Sevilla thrown by the 'due diligence' that was commissioned on behalf of the first bidder.
